Can you solve a Mystery?

Guess who I am using the clues below. I could be a plant, animal, bird, tree, insect, arachnid (spiders), or amphibian found in Colorado. (Look for the answer in next month’s newsletter as well as a new mystery!)

I creep through the tall grasses looking for my next meal

It may have been a week or more since I last ate.

My favorite foods are mice, eggs, and insects.

I use my tongue to smell out the area for my prey, and once I find it I unhinge my jaw and swallow it whole.

I will slither away to find a sunny spot to warm my scales.
