Mystery # 12

Calling All Detectives!
Can you solve a Mystery?

Guess who I am using the clues below. I could be a plant, animal, bird, tree, insect, arachnid (spiders), or amphibian found in Colorado. (Look for the answer in next month’s newsletter as well as a new mystery!)

1. Although I am not a native species of Colorado (meaning I was brought here from another place) you will find plenty of my kind in the South Platte River!

2. I prefer a habitat in moving water because these currents help stir up food for me.

3. I eat tiny plants and animals in the water that people need a microscope to see. Warm, shallow water is my favorite place to hang out, usually closer to the shore.

4. My shell is light green and brown in color and protects my soft, white body inside.
